Company History
As the successor to Trans-City Terminal Warehouse which began in 1960, IDS has a long history of delivering superior logistics services to a wide range of industries and customers. IDS provides the stability and commitment of a fulfillment company with 50 years of experience in logistics while providing modern facilities and some of the industry’s best technology.
IDS has posted solid increases in sales and earnings even as the logistics industry has seen declines (Armstrong and Associates reported an average 15.2% decline in revenue for the third party logistics industry in 2009).
Facilities
IDS operates primarily from its distribution center at 3100 Reeves Road in Plainfield, IN. The order fulfillment company's facility is a modern 315,000+ square foot distribution center with easy access to I-70 and is located two exits from Indianapolis’s I-465 beltway. The Reeves Road facility is just off of the Indianapolis International Airport which is one of the world’s largest air shipment hubs. The facility provides a variety of space options including order fulfillment areas, packaging areas, air-conditioned storage options and dedicated areas for higher value products. The operation is maintained to food/OTC grade security, sanitation, and product control standards including third-party auditing by AIB (American Institute of Baking). Located at the “Crossroads of America”, this facility provides excellent parcel, truckload, LTL, expedited and intermodal service standards as either an Eastern distribution center in a two location model or as the ideal geographic primary Midwest location for a single national distribution center model.
