IDS Transportation recently attended the annual MercuryGate (MG) User Conference held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The conference is designed to bring together shippers and logistics service providers that utilize MercuryGate TMS software to execute their transportation activities. Currently MercuryGate has roughly 100,000 users, who spend a total of $25.0 billion on transportation annually. The 3 day conference discussed topics ranging from product knowledge, industry insight from market leaders, as well as provided unique opportunities to share and compare best practices. IDS has been on the MercuryGate platform for 8 years.
The area of most interest and discussion was the transportation management contract services model which is beginning to take a firm hold in the transportation market. Industry experts and MG Logistic Service Providers (LSP) shared their successes. The chart below illustrates the average savings MercuryGate LSP’s, like IDS, are bringing to companies that contract with them:
While the transportation savings are dramatic, IDS was able to share some of our best practices during the conference. Our ability to provide exceptional experienced customer service, our experience with intermodal, as well as the flexibility to handle all of your logistics needs is what allows IDS to deliver a competitive advantage.
There are a number of ways to implement a Managed Transportation Services solution that allow shippers to maintain control over the process, while leveraging the strengths of a transportation services provider like IDS. Look for new and exciting things from the IDS transportation team in the upcoming months, as they strengthen their offering in this area.
A new transportation website, newsletter, and other efforts will be aimed at addressing IDS’ specific solution offering in Managed Transportation Services which will build on the IDS Transportation success.
